Sauna and snow in Geilo

Welcome to Skarveegget, a wood-fired barrel sauna with plenty of space for 6 people. The sauna is designed for 6, but there is room for 8 if you sit close together.

Skarveegget is beautifully situated with a great view over Ustedalsfjorden and the surrounding forest in peaceful surroundings. There is room for the whole family, a group of friends, or a quiet moment for two people lying down on the benches.

How about a ski trip around Ustedalsfjorden followed by a relaxing sauna experience, or a visit to the sauna after a day on the ski slopes?

There is no changing room connected to the sauna, so pack smart in a large bag or backpack where you can keep your belongings while you enjoy the warmth in Skarveegget.

If you want to cool down during your sauna session, you can stand outside and enjoy the fresh mountain air or lie down in the snow.

This experience does NOT include ice bathing. For ice bathing, you’ll need to visit Tønna at Ustaoset instead.

Parking

At Vestlia Resort in Geilo.

Access

Your sauna host will meet you outside the entrance of Vestlia Resort 5 minutes before your session begins.

There are no changing rooms or toilets nearby. You are welcome to use the restroom at Vestlia Resort before heading down to the sauna.

Bring swimwear, a towel, bathing shoes or wool socks, and drinking water. Pack smart in a large bag or backpack.

Sauna Rules

All use of the sauna and bathing is at your own risk. At least one participant renting the sauna must be over 18 years old.

Please be clean when you arrive and always use a towel when sitting or lying down.

Be aware that the floor may be slippery both inside the sauna and outside during winter.

As there is no running water, remember to bring drinking water.

To avoid broken glass in the bathing area and around the sauna, we strongly request that you do not bring any glass.

Smoking and food inside the sauna are prohibited.

There are no toilet facilities at the sauna. Please do not leave toilet paper in the forest or in the area. Take it with you in a bag along with any other waste.
