Sauna and cold plunge Ustaoset

Welcome to Tønna, a wood-fired barrel sauna with space for 6 people. Ustaoset is located 15 minutes from Geilo along Highway 7 towards Bergen. The sauna will be warm and ready upon arrival, and extra firewood as well as water for pouring over the hot stones will be available. The sauna is designed for 6 people, but can fit up to 8 if you sit close together.

A sauna host will always be present during your entire stay in Tønna to ensure your safety during the ice bath and to guide you on how to get the best possible sauna experience. There are no changing rooms or toilets nearby. The closest toilets are at the petrol station or at the train station, a 3-minute walk from the sauna.

Parking.

Park by the Joker store in Ustaoset. A parking fee is paid at the petrol station.

Access.

Between the Joker store and the train station, walk through the tunnel under the railway tracks and you will see the sauna. You will meet your sauna host at the sauna.

There are no changing rooms or toilets near the sauna, but there are free toilets at the train station, and you may also use the petrol station’s toilet for a small fee.

Please bring swimwear, a towel, and drinking water for the sauna session. It is also recommended to bring a hat, mittens, and bathing shoes or wool socks for the ice bath itself. Pack smartly in a large bag or backpack—changing is done outdoors by the sauna, and you will store your belongings in your bag or backpack during the experience.

Note: Be aware that the water level at Ustaoset is reduced in autumn, so it may be lower than normal in november/december, means it will be difficult to go in the water before the ice gets safe to walk on in the end of December.

Sauna Rules.

All use of the sauna and bathing is at your own risk. At least one participant renting the sauna must be over 18 years old.

Please arrive clean and always sit or lie on a towel.

Be aware that the floor may be slippery inside the sauna, and outside during winter.

As there is no running water, remember to bring your own.

To avoid broken glass in and around the sauna area, we strongly ask you not to bring any glass.

Smoking and eating inside the sauna are prohibited.

There are no toilet facilities at the sauna. Please do not leave toilet paper in the forest or surrounding area. Bring it with you in a bag together with other waste.
